BAY OF ROSES (6 NIGHTS)

Highlights

Roses

Located in the Costa Brava, the Bay of Roses is considered one of the prettiest in the world. It hosts the municipalities of Roses, L'Escala, Sant Pere Pescador and Castelló d'Empúries, including 45 km of beaches with shallow waters and high quality tourist services. It is ideal for families and watersports.

The scenic heritage of the bay is formed by 3 natural parks: Cap de Creus Natural Park, the Natural Park of the Empordà Wetlands and Montgrí Natural Park.

The Bay's gastronomy is known around the world thanks to Ferran Adrià, considered for several years as the best chef in the world. Today, the bay hosts 2 michelin star awarded restaurants and many other prestigious restaurants, using products of high quality from local agriculture, fishing and cellars of Empordà apellation of origin.

Its climate is typycally mediterranean, with mild winters and warm summers.

Dalí Theater-Museum

Opened in 1974 in Figueres, Dalí Theater-Museum was projected and dessigned by the artist himself. The whole building has a dreamlike, phantasmagoric and surreal atmosphere devised by Salvador Dalí. It hosts artworks of the artist, showing a panoramic vision of his trajectory, with pieces and rooms created specifically for the museum standing out among them.

Greek/Roman ruins of Empúries

The ruins of Empúries are the only archeological site in the Iberian peninsula where remains of the greek civilization and of a roman city can be visited at the same time. It has a monographic museum and offers cultural activities, such as dramatized visits, family workshops, music shows or virtual tours.

Girona

In Girona you can travel back 2000 years, thanks to 2 fortified enclosures: "La Força Vella" (roman foundation) and the "Medieval Eixample", the extension of the city walls during 14th and 15th centuries; including a great artistic and monumental heritage.

Its crown jewel is the Jewish Quarter, with astonishing narrow streets, fortified squares, exultant baroque spaces and "Noucentisme" styled buildings (an early 20th century catalan cultural movement organised largely as a reaction against modernism).

One of the most iconic and spectacular images of the city, are the Onyar river houses and its popular bridges, including the one designed by the Eiffel House.

Besalú

Besalú is a crossroads and medieval fortress located between two rivers, Fluvià and Capellades.

It used to be the capital of an independent earldom and hosts one of the best preserved historic and artistic medieval ensembles, including churches and monuments from the XII century.

It's also worth mentioning the jewish quarter and the Micvé (ritual bath house), also from the XII century.

Another vestige from the ancient Earldom of Besalú is the XI century stone bridge over Fluvià river, welcoming visitors to the medieval old quarter.

Cadaqués

Cadaqués is one of the most beautiful and iconic villages in the Costa Brava. Its geographic isolation until 19th century has preserved Cadaqués fishing village essence, with narrow streets and white houses. It was one of the greatest inspirations of Salvador Dalí, who used to live in Portlligat, where you can visit the Dalí House-Museum.

Pals & Peratallada

Pals and Peratallada are two medieval villages of great beauty.

From Pals it is worth mentioning the Tower of the Hours (a circular romanesque tower), the church of Sant Pere and architectural details all around. From the Pedró Viewpoint you can enjoy beautiful views of the Medes Islands, Mt. Montgrí, Mt. Canigó and the Albera Mountains.

Peratallada has a very well preserved fortified center, where you can have a pleasant walk around and travel to the medieval era.
